Accommodation in Les Gets
Les Gets has maintained its traditional village charm over the years of becoming a recognised ski village. A lovely, quaint little town that dates back to the 12 century, Les Gets has a rich Savoyard history and has remained an established mainstay in the Portes du Soleil ski area. Les Gets was just a small farming village in the early 1900s with little more than a town hall, church and a few buildings. However, with the growth of the ski areas around it, the first tourist office was built in 1937, along with the ‘Boule de Gomme’ draglift ( the updated version of this still remains in the resort to this day). The following year, Chavannes single chairlift followed and has been upward since then. The earliest accommodation in Les Gets was its hotels and by the 1960s there were several of them opened in the little village. An interesting feature and appeal of Les Gets is its ability to maintain its authentic Savoyard appearance while perfectly embracing a modernized contemporary look as the year's progress. Most of the structures within the village, including the accommodation buildings ( hotels, chalets and apartments) have been constructed with the traditional, architectural, Alpine design. Les Gets has grown steadily over the years and whilst its charm and quaint nature is still a welcome and enjoyed trait, it has attained even more impressive attributes and achievements. Les Gets is a recognised Famille Plus Accredited ski resort which means it is well equipped with child-friendly facilities (including accommodation) across the resort. It also bears the prestigious Qualité Tourisme label in recognition for its quality of services to visiting tourists, including accommodation and finally, its Station Village de Charme label certifies that all visitors will be staying in a typical and authentic French mountain village. For a small ski village in the Portes du Soleil, Let Get has an impressive resume of awards and a good number of accommodation options on offer. However, before selecting your residence, there are a few things to consider.
Distance To Resort Centre/Amenities: If you want to be within walking distance of most of the action, looking for a residence in and around the village centre is a no-brainer. It also helps to be close to the amenities such as shops, and bakeries if you are self-catering, making it easy to stock up on supplies or perhaps go out for an evening meal with family and friends. Les Gets village centre is relatively small which means everything is close to each other and there isn't too far apart, especially the shops and restaurants. Distance to the resort centre is also something to consider if you would prefer a quiet residence with noise levels at a minimum or if you dont mind taking in the party atmosphere, with the majority of the bars, pubs and restaurants taking place within the resort centre. It is important to note, however, that most residences located close to the resort centre usually cost more.
Planned Activities: If you have any activities planned over your stay, make sure they are close enough or within proximity of your residence or the closest shuttle bus stop. Especially if you are visiting elderly people or small children. Also if you want to be early on the lifts and avoid the long queues, search for accommodation located close to the slopes which will allow for easy on and off access. Keep your eye out for ski-in and ski-out apartments but also be advised, that these perfectly located ski apartments may most likely charge a premium.
Book as Early As Possible: The earlier the better, is always the saying when booking your ski holiday but this is even more crucial when it comes to accommodation. If you plan on staying in a ski apartment and you have special requirements such as easy access to pistes, centrally located etc, try and book your accommodation as early as possible as these choice areas sell out very quickly. Also, availability of these choice accommodation areas may be limited and may only be available at a time not suitable for you.
Travel Size: Make sure you select a Les Get accommodation option that comfortably fits your travel size. Check out the options available in detail of simply call us for a chat and our specialist teams will be happy to help your accommodation selection process.
