Val Thorens Ski Lessons
Val Thorens Ski School FAQs
Are lift passes included in the ski lessons at Val Thorens?
There are two ski passes available at Val Thorens; the Les 3 Vallées ski pass (which covers the Val Thorens local ski area including Orelle and the rest of the Three Valleys) and the Val Thorens-Orelle ski pass which only covers the slopes around the resort. Neither of these ski passes are included in the ski lessons at any of the ski schools in Val Thorens as the ski passes must be purchased separately. However, Val Thorens has been known to have beginner discounts in the past which granted access to the nursery slopes via the Plein Sud (Cairn gondola), Péclet (Two Lacs) and Caron (Caron cable car). These discounts are subject to change by the resort; please enquire for any available beginner discounts prior to securing a ski pass. For more information, check out our Val Thorens ski pass page.

What type of ski lessons should I book at Val Thorens?
The ski schools at Val Thorens offer a varying selection of lessons across different ski ability levels. Contrary to the general perception that ski schools are for only beginners and children, ski lessons range from beginner and first-timer level up to confident intermediate who perhaps need lessons on tackling off-piste and challenging terrain on the slopes. The ski lessons are administered either as a group format or private, individual lessons on a one-to-one basis. The group formats can include up to 8 skiers at once; grouping skiers together based on their ski ability levels. This format is most advisable for children and is favoured by most parents as it allows the children to learn from watching their peers as well as learning from their instructors. It is also a great way for them to make new friends with whom they can enjoy the experience together. Private, one-to-one lessons are likely to be costlier than group lessons, but may prove more effective as the dedicated time provided by the instructor will prove more beneficial for the learner. Although they are higher priced, fewer classes may be required as the learners are likely to pick up skiing at a much quicker rate thanks to the focused attention. Before choosing your ski lessons in Val Thorens, it is important to be fully aware of your skill level ( ensure you also check that of any other persons accompanying you on the lessons ) as this ensures that you are in the right class that caters to your immediate needs.
